Actually, I meant to link to the original story a couple of days ago, but forgot. Anyhow, remember that FEMA official who instructed her field people to ignore homes that had Trump signs in the yard? At first, it looked like she was just going to get a slap on the wrist: they merely transferred her to another county.
Well, now she has been fired.
Not only fired but named, and I hope an ongoing program of shamed. Until society reinstates shame for vicious behavior it will continue.
ReplyDeleteMore good news!
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, Jen Rubin continues her quest to make herself a parody.
ReplyDeleteShe has a Tweet threat about how MAGA types often assault and otherwise abuse FEMA employees, so this is understandable and justified.
So if you vote Trump you should die. Not only do you not despise the media enough, you don't hate never-Trumpers sufficiently. These are evil people who want us dead.
Looks to me like the FEMA bosses waited to see which way the election went before they sacked her.
ReplyDeleteThe odds are in favor of that, Mick.
DeleteI've read that said FEMA official was a reservist, at least in the initial articles. No mention of that in official statements.
ReplyDeleteI bring this up because a FEMA reservist is not a full time employee, but someone who has signed up as an on-call contractor. I've never heard of a reservist being assigned as a supervisor, but it's possible if they are only supervising other reservists.
So "firing" her was a lot simpler than dealing with a full time fed ... ... they just canceled her contract.
What FEMA and DHS have to avoid at all costs, is any examination as to why this supervisor felt secure giving those instructions. As with the IRS targeting conservatives during the Obama administration, or the FBI targeting Catholics during the current one, she did not do this in a vacuum.
DeleteYep. Which is why she was shown the door so quickly.
DeleteAnd there’s doubtless quid pro quo for her silence somewhere in that action.
That was me.
