Sorry, but I'm going to be offline until late Monday sometime. President-Elect Trump wants to interview me for the position of Chairman of the Commission for Monitoring U-Boat Activity in Chesapeake Bay, an important task force you no doubt remember me mentioning in the past.
So, duty calls. Have a great rest of the week and feel free to walk - not run - amock in the comments section (perhaps someone can research why it's now "amock" instead of "amuck", which is the way I used to see it spelled).
Meanwhile, here's an early Happy Feet Friday video featuring the Flamingos with "Jump, Children".
And how about a small deposit on the Sunday funnies?
Well, I hope the interview goes well, and I hope Elon & Vivek and the DOGE don't run amuck on the CMUBA before you have a chance to reform its management.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, it is amuck, not amock.
the work of the CMUBA will be essential if the Soviets continue to escalate the war in Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteI've always seen it both ways.
ReplyDeleteI've seen it 'amok' as well.
That's how I spell it since that was the first way I saw it.
Speaking of,
ReplyDeleteNew German submarines are powered by hydrogen fuel-cells, and seem to solve the H leakage problem by storing it outside the pressure hull, only piping it in as needed.

Thoughts?
I may have run somewhat amuck when I was young but I don’t believe I’ve ever run amok. If I had the energy, I might try it.
ReplyDeleteMr Spock ran Amok when it was his Time.
ReplyDeleteThis might score, ever heard of 'muck up'? It's an Australianism every school kid knows meaning misbehaving. Always reminded me of 'run amuck'.
ReplyDeleteThe last day of school is 'muck up day'.
I've heard of "don't muck it up" as in "don't screw it up". Not so much misbehaving, but more just doing something the wrong way.
DeleteThe story of my life, in other words.
My contribution to Sunday Funnies In Absentia.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's been shared here before.

OT Today is December 7; a day that will live in infamy. Unfortunately, it seems oddly quiet today for such a seminal time. Maybe it's because I'm still in the nursing home. Days run together many times. Let us not forget Pearl Harbor.
ReplyDeleteI never forget it Anonymous, and I was born 14 years after the event and in Australia. The day they woke the giant. I hope things go well for you in the nursing home.
ReplyDeleteAs far as amuk/amok goes, we could go with amouk. It is a tropical hardwood that resists mould, sounds perfect for the decking on a Uboat. We could all run amouk to the deck gun. When we get these new nuclear subs do you reckon we could bolt on a deck gun. They look cool.
