No thanks to Murkowsi, Collins and the increasingly useless McConnell, who all voted "no". "Pete Hegseth Confirmed as Secretary of Defense".
My own Republican squish, Thom Tillis, had some last minute flutters, but ultimately voted "yes". Mrs. Paco and I made sure to send emails to his office this evening prior to the vote, pointing out what a nice little gig he has, be a shame if he lost it because he didn't do the right thing.
A good man confirmed for a vital role and three hearts filled with treachery are exposed.
ReplyDeleteIt's almost Shakespearean.
Well done, Mr. and Mrs. Paco. Old Paco would be proud.
ReplyDeleteMy adopted state of North Carolina teeters on the edge. Tillis is a first-rate fool who repeatedly flirts with progressive causes. I will actively support anyone who primaries him. How about you, Paco?
ReplyDeleteAs Old Paco said when the local GOP tried to get him to run for office, "The only thing I ever ran for was the county line." At least we are no longer burdened by RINO (and former lawn mower salesman) Richard Burr.
DeleteRichard Burr once returned my grocery cart to the store for me. Thom Tillis never has. Proof that Burr was a better senator (although not by much).
DeleteI dunno. Are you sure he wasn't just grabbing your cart to take in the store because he needed one? I suppose we can give him the doubt.
DeleteI read that there was huge influx of phone calls and emails to Tillis's office, so you were not alone, Paco and A&A!
ReplyDeleteI was astounded at that fluttering, considering that Trump had just visited western NC. Talk about sending the wrong signal!
Or ... was it the honest signal? Hmmmm!
I'm pretty sure Tillis never saw our emails; however, I'm equally sure he does have staff who review emails and telephone messages, especially on key issues, to see which way the wind is blowing. So, I think contacting your representatives may have a tiny chance of pushing them one way or the other.
DeleteI expect his staff at least tallies the pro and con messages, and maybe summarizes the tones of the two groups.
DeleteExactly! And I think the pro-Hegspeth messages were more numerous, and stronger in tone, than the anti's.
