Updated and bumped Moving at the speed of Trump, it appears that I completely skipped Tuesday and went straight to Wednesday. So, important tip: if you want to know what day it is, don't go by this blog.
Update In the comments, JeffS mentioned flying cars, and that reminded me that I had this video queued. I will take two, in any color.
Very cool!
ReplyDeleteThe interesting part is the difficulty of modeling how the drive wheels will push the balls, but his estimates (a/k/a guesses) look to be solid. A very nice experiment on novel transportation assets. The maneuverability alone makes this a good design for urban transportation.
But practical applications may be a bit in the future. The smooth wheels will have very limited traction, so the balls need some sort of gripping capability. And that may interfere with the actions of the drive wheels. And so on.
Plus there being no connection between the wheels and frame (other than gravity) leads to some serious safety issues.
All in all, a good design, but the development into practical applications is far off.
In the meantime, I'm still waiting for my air car ......
I agree. I don't think we'll be seeing these in stores, any time soon.
DeleteThe Jetson has potential!
ReplyDeleteIt needs the sound of George Jet son's flying car.
ReplyDeleteEasy peasy, with an MP3 player and speakers!
