We will see astounding victories and ominous reversals along the way, unforeseen heroism and shocking treachery. But, for the first time in my life, I hear loud cracking noises, and the thud of bits and pieces of the deep state falling to the ground.
Let us cherish every victory, great or small. Another example, largely unheralded: "Important New DOJ Order Lost in the Flood of Big Moves".
not since Reagan tried to shrink/starve the bureaucracy have I been this hopeful; Reagan mostly ended up creating the contractor class and not saving money; it's not ideal that he's putting large numbers of employees on paid leave; getting them out of the way to minimize any internal problems they can cause is good if he's got restructuring plans and RIF plans going in; I haven't seen those yet, but eliminating the jobs or the organizations so there's nothing to come back to would be ideal.

Some are scrambling to interpret the Trump presidency as some sort of ideology. Hegseth's pithy 'Uncle Sam will not be uncle sucker' sums it up for me. My fellow Australians still haven't grasped this I feel. They think we can talk about some 'relationship' and that will solve everything. That was the Cold War when US Foreign Policy canvassed for friends. It ended with Blinken and Nuland promoting 'color revolutions'. Which led much of the world to see the US as some sort of sugar daddy. Australia needs to stand on its own and be self-sufficient, but no one seems to have grasped this. Compared to say Israel, Australia is just coasting on 'She'll be right mate'. Israel's mass-mobilisation and relative independence is impressive.
