This needs to be fixed, pronto

"Shocking Scandal: Over $151 Million Intended for Soldiers’ Meals at 11 Major Army Bases Spent Elsewhere".

I had read a while back about a particular base where troops were going hungry, but this really underscores the scandal. Five will get you ten the money either got diverted to Ukraine or to DEI training - or both.

  1. "our systems weren't designed to be auditable" is no excuse; hopefully forensic audit can follow the money from one account to another; since money is fungible there may be no way to tell; there was a scandal about the condition of enlisted housing a while back too; I'm disgusted by the waste and fraud that's in these government organizations and the scale of it.;I'm sure the officer's club and flag officer's housing is up to snuff; I predict that the media will blame it on diversions for the wall,

  2. This is depressing to me personally. One of my most memorable Thanksgiving meals was during AIT at Fort Ord in 1975. Away from home, and the mess hall went all out with not only a spectacular spread, but decorations as well. It went a long way to easing the loneliness of being away from family during a major holiday.

Used to be that whatever service you were in, getting meals to the troops took precedence over nearly everything else except warfighting.

    1. Indeed, there was a time when the officers would not eat until they saw that their troops were taken care of first. Sure doesn't look like General Milley ever suffered from reduced rations.

  3. The Army refuses to disclose what the extra funds are being used for.

I wonder if Trump's new SecDef will be asking them about it? I'd hope he could get some answers if he did.

  4. I have a cousin who served on an aircraft carrier, he would only eat foods he didn't like, and complain, because he didn't want to ruin the memories of foods he liked, but he never complained that there wasn't enough; he said it was an all you could keep down buffet.
