From Jewish Folk Poetry for Voices and Piano, Op. 79 (Dmitri Shostakovich).
Bonus video! A very talented young pianist demonstrates the process of improvisation.
"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
That child is a prodigy.
ReplyDeleteBecause it's 60 Minutes which we also have here on a different schedule, I'm not allowed to view the video, probably because they will show it on TV here eventually. You asked about blocked videos, and this is an example of how it looks over here. FYI
DeleteIsn't 60 Minutes in Australia a specifically Australian edition? I've seen one or two things on YouTube (mostly crime-related). The American edition is also shown?
DeleteThis video was uploaded in November of 2017; don't know when it was first broadcast.
DeleteYes the main feature of the week is usually Australian. I don't watch it, but I suspect they'd use this to fill up an episode. Just my guess - other blocked videos are usually US TV shows which show here. Blocking isn't very logical anyway. Local content here is getting rarer so they pad it out with overseas stuff.
DeleteI got to watch the video on a 'reaction' by a UK pianist. He saw that the young lady has perfect pitch, which enables her to compose mentally. Perfect pitch is both a blessing and a curse - you constantly notice the tuning and can't enjoy the music. Some lose their perfect pitch when they get older, it's a young brain thing. Rick Beato goes into that:

That was me. Oops.
Delete60 minutes also did a great piece with Derek the blind savant who can play any song he has ever heard and play it in any style and key; he is also capable of improvising amazing things.
