I had never heard of this little cog in the great wheel of the federal bureaucracy...

...but it's sure getting some attention now: "Inside The Now-Shuttered Federal Agency Where Employees Lived ‘Like Reigning Kings’".

One of the seven small federal agencies that President Donald Trump ordered downsized or eliminated on Friday was rife with corruption, with its employees hiring friends and relatives, commissioning paintings of themselves, and using government credit cards to indulge in constant luxuries.

It is a wild story of incredible graft. Now, just imagine this waste of taxpayer money repeating itself ten times, a hundred times over. If our bureaucracy were  symbolized by a single man, he would be the fattest fellow in the room, sitting in a plush chair, his swollen, gouty leg propped up on a footstool, his existence teetering on the cusp of apoplexy.

"What's all this piffle about accountability?"

  2. piffle... I love the old words... a friend with the Park Police one caused the whole agency to go to sensitivity training for describing someone's response to an incident a hootenanny

  3. Behold! The face of the anti-DOGE movement.

  4. It’s likely not many people had heard of that agency or the others like it, and that was probably the point. Thank God for DOGE.

  5. On the other side of the US, the San Fran Pride Parade is suddenly losing donors. With the USAID tap turned off, you have to wonder how many of the givers were giving what was actually theirs.

  6. On top of everything else, I've seen some chatter here and there about certain government agencies creating their own money. Not sure what that's all about, but it doesn't sound good. I'm now of the opinion that, no matter how corrupt we thought the government was, we were way off in grasping the actual scope.

  7. As I thought about it, isn't that dept. doing what the NLRB does?

  8. The examples I saw quoted were female. More like living like imperial concubines, or gold-diggers making cosy nests supported by the government sugar-daddy.
