Hold on a minute, your honor...

...I think this is a potentially revolutionary idea that could go a long way toward thinning out the excessively large herd of lawyers plaguing the nation: "Judge berates AI entrepreneur for using a generated ‘lawyer’ in court".

  1. Wow. I saw quite a few incompetent lawyers in my 30 years of practice, but this guy's idiocy in using an avatar in court is hard to believe. Most any judge I ever encountered would have thrown me in jail for contempt if I had ever tried that. It's an egregious violation of the ethical canon requiring candor before the court. And it's a sad commentary on the demise of professionalism among the bar. Matched unfortunately by the demise of professionalism among the professoriate, the clergy, the military, the guy who changes my oil, and just about everything else.

  2. I wonder if the guy thought the publicity would outweigh the embarrassment of receiving a tongue lashing from the judge? Pretty wild gamble, if so.

  3. I think these early versions of AI aren't as usable as the developers think they are. Maybe they'll get there eventually, but AI doesn't seem to be ready for prime time, yet. People trying to push AI into the mainstream, like the guy in this article, are finding this out.
