I watch a lot of comedy reels on Facebook, and I’ve noticed the Iranian ones call themselves Persian instead of Iranian when they talk about their ethnicity. Either they’re afraid calling themselves Iranian might cost them work, or they’re just plain embarrassed by Iran.

The Muslim world is overrun with conspiratorial thinking. Remember Iran getting upset at Israeli spy squirrels? Even in Egypt there was a flap some years back about Israeli sharks.
ReplyDeleteIf you have not, find Bernard Lewis' book What Went Wrong? It's an examination of how the modern Islamic world has responded to their current loss of influence and power.
