We went to Chesapeake, VA to attend a Latin Mass (didn't see anyone who stuck out as FBI), and then drove down to Manns Harbor, NC to visit my step father, who I believe was trying to kill me by stuffing me with substantial amounts of food. Just relaxed for a few days, but I did get in some work harvesting pecans; my stepfather, Jim, has two huge trees, and they have generated literally hundreds (perhaps thousands) of pecans.
Saw that the donks took Virginia and New Jersey, and Mamdani is now Caliph of New York. Virginia needs to expel the northeastern counties like a cat hacking up a fur ball, and Jersey is plain hopeless, I guess. I believe Mamdani's honeymoon is going to end pretty quickly; as Florida Senator Rick Scott said, Mamdani will probably prove to be Florida's top realtor for the next four years.
Oh, got a notice from the County Clerk's office that my deed now includes the names of Veeshir, R-Man and JeffS. Fine with me boys; you can start ponying up with your share of the property taxes.
Hope you all are well. We will resume regular broadcasting tomorrow.
Did you attend the Mass wearing Wayfarers, a Polo shirt, and khaki chinos? Because if not, you're a wienie.
ReplyDeleteNot that there's anything wrong with that.
The check's in the mail.
ReplyDeleteSo you didn't notice the .41 magnum is missin...I mean, I hope your gun room is okay.
I guess JeffS' soothing music worked.
Since Jim lives in black bear country - he has a house in a cleared area of around ten acres surrounded by thousands of acres of state-owned swamp and forest - I did, in fact, carry the Ruger Blackhawk .41 Magnum with me; didn't have occasion to use it, however.
DeleteI have a Marlin 1895 in .45/70, got it over 25 years ago specifically for bear. But usually when I hike out back I carry a 1911 in a drop leg holster because, well, a long arm isn't always convenient to carry around.
DeleteI have a large container of loose change that I am packing up to pay the taxes; thanks for not making me take that stash to the bank! Might want to pick up some coin rolls, though.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back!
I may have some of your smaller caliber stuff, I can send the brass back if that helps.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back in one piece. And you must let us know when you spot the first NY refugees in the neighbourhood.
ReplyDeleteDang, I thought NC was one of those no-taxes states! Oh, well, it can't be worse than the all-taxes state I live in.
ReplyDeleteI liked the Babylon Bee's take on the new NYC Mayor: Zohran Mamdani Horrified To Discover He Now Has A Job.
I think his grace period may be rather short.
They're going to have to take a loyalty oath before they get in here.
DeleteThat last comment was a response to Greg.
DeleteJust to clarify, Mr. Paco sir, I wasn’t snooping when I invaded your bedroom. I was looking for the bathroom, honest.
ReplyDeleteMy brother in law moved down to NC from Boston, he said that taxes are lower, but I ran the smartasset tax evaluations for MA and NC and my taxes came out lower in MA, they don't tax Social Security or federal government pension.
ReplyDeleteYes, North Carolina has not, historically, been one of your top taxpayer-friendly states. Years ago - maybe 40 or so - the state maintained an asset tax on investments, which, fortunately, was ultimately found to be unconstitutional.
