I didn't know that

I'm not sure how I lived to be 70 without knowing this, but the future fifth president of the United States joined the future first president in the critical attack on the Hessians in Trenton, New Jersey on December 26, 1776: "Monroe Crossing the Delaware". Monroe was seriously wounded, and almost died.

  1. This got me wondering about a related topic I hadn't really thought about before: how many Presidents are/were veterans?
The answer surprised me somewhat, because like I said, I had never thought about it. Would you believe over half of'em? Twenty-four saw combat, and six were in the military, but didn't see combat.
I had no idea the numbers were that big!
