This is one reason Mrs. Paco and I have taken to watching old tv programs from the 50s, 60s and 70s

And I can't remember how long it's been since we've gone to a movie theater:  "Hollywood Sinks Its Own Ship, Proudly".

It's been fun catching up on old tv shows, many of which, for one reason or another, I rarely, if ever, saw when I was young: Lawman, The Virginian, Highway Patrol, Movin' On, The Rifleman, Gunsmoke, the list goes on and on. And quite a few of the made-for-tv movies are pretty good (take a look at Trilogy of Terror, sometime, if you haven't seen it - especially the last tale in the anthology; guaranteed to make you jump, possibly out of your skin).

  1. I just saw an ad for the new Malcolm in the Middle, I was wondering how they'd screw it up.
A tranny kindergartner sounds very 2020 but they went there.
It's not in kindergarten now, but that's when it knew it was a freak.
Sigh. I'll just watch the original. That show was hilarious.

  2. Agreed. Hollywood is committing suicide. And now they are trying to reverse course, or at least Disney is ... kinda sorta ...

I've been re-watching Barney Miller, a sitcom from the 1970s, focused on a police station in New York. It offered some looks at the bad side of America in that era, but a lot of classic humor. Fortunately, there's a "skip intro" option at the start, not only because I don't need all those intros, but because the opening includes a shot of the World Trade Center buildings ... ...

But I prefer the older movies as well, even those that might be seen as, well, woke. I watched "In The Heat Of The Night" again; I have vague memories of watching it on TV as a child. That movie would not be produced today.

    1. I was watching it on a broadcast network in Tempe so I saw that every time. Pissed me off each time.
You are missing some of the best bass riffs ever though, it changes a little each season, but it's always very good.

  3. Last week YouTube offered up an episode of The Rebel. Okay, all my life to that point I had thought the show was named "Johnny Yuma," probably due to the theme song. Which was sung by Johnny Cash.
