I've grown fond of the 9x18 round (also called the 9mm Makarov) over the last year or so, and recently added another pistol chambered in this caliber to my collection: the P83 Wanad.
This is a Polish military surplus pistol that, like all 9mm Makarovs I'm familiar with, is a direct blowback. It came with two 8-round magazines and a cleaning rod. It is single/double action and has a decocker. The pistol performed flawlessly on the range, and is very accurate to (at least) 12 yards. The P83 was manufactured between 1983 and 2000, and some of them are still in service. Interestingly, it is formed of sheet metal stampings, similar to most AK-47 rifles; however, it is solid and ergonomically pleasant to hold and shoot.

Ah, the classic 9x18! The round of choice for putting one in the back of a dissident's head!
ReplyDeleteBut save yourself some work, and make them dig a trench beforehand. For, uh... you know, just to have handy if you need one.
