Assortment

1) I was intending to put up something like this, myself, but Moonbattery beat me to it.

2) Iceberg, Tip Of: Via Currency Lad, the shape of things to come.

3) Everybody’s heard about Joe the Plumber’s exchange with Obama by now, and how absolutely devastating Joe’s simple, but spot on, comment was in highlighting The One’s knee-jerk socialistic tendencies - or, if you’re feeling charitable, his “economic illiteracy” (BTW, if you haven’t met Joe, here he is) . How seriously is the Obama campaign treating the Joe factor? This seriously:

4) Afraid the first endorsement might not have taken, Fidel Castro endorses Obama again (incidentally, the linked article has some interesting information on a few of Jeremiah Wright's Cuban friends).

Update: Quote of the day from Instapundit: "They've done more investigations into Joe the Plumber in 24 hours than they've done on Barack Obama in two years".

Son of Update: Plumbers of the world unite! You have nothing to lose but your...er...clogged drains.

That photo of the Ubermessiah just drips with the narcissism of an ego-maniac.

If The One is so easily rattled by Joe the Plumber (who knew Joe Sixpack was a plumber?) what's he going to do when confronted by Ahmadinnerjacket? That is if The One meets A-man's preconditions.

If the narcissistic ego-maniac wins the election I'm really, really hoping for another do-nothing Congress like we've had the last two years. Well, do-nothing until they found 700 billion dollars nobody knew existed until two weeks ago.

Harumph!

Re the woman allegedly visited by the Secret Service.

The disputed phrase was 'dead on a hospital floor', the woman, if she said it, was of course referring to abortion. But Obama's canvasser hears something else: JFK (or MLK), whose life she thinks they are re-enacting. Two different worlds.

The Secret Service and FBI are just doing their job. I remember when Danny Bonaduce got death threats and they cane forward to help him.

Disclosure: I was phoned by our Fed Police acting for the FBI. Some years back when the first Muslim US Congressman was elected I flipped and left a cryptic comment on his official website. Stupid of me. It was meant as an ironic reference to the fact that, Muslim or not as an American he is still a target of global Jihad which ought to concern him. But they didn't take it that way (it was cryptic) and had to check it out. It was all very proper and polite. And I am now more than ever aware that 'It is an offence to make a threat via any medium'.

And they're right.

Bruce: I'm not blaming the Secret Service; but I do submit that the canvasser probably overreacted. If the woman called had been an Obama supporter and had made some crack about John McCain dropping dead, I wonder if the canvasser would have been so prompt in reporting it to the authorities. Maybe. Maybe not.
