Yeah, Right

Man takes woman to beach to propose; woman is swept away by a wave. Anybody else find this a little...suspicious?

It is bizarre, to say the least. But the man lives far enough from the Oregon coast to be unfamiliar with Pacific Ocean weather to make his statement plausible.

Not necessarily believable, just plausible. Proof to the contrary will be difficult to find.

It could have happened the way he said. But one can't help wondering if Leafil proved not to be as advertised.

Well, maybe I've been watching too many episodes of Forensic Files and Cold Cases...

I doubt that it's an overactive imagination on your part, Paco. Similar real life episodes in that part of the country have turned out to be foul play.

But, lacking evidence to the contrary, I'm taking him at his word. But the police are investigating, so we shall see.

TW: heart. Yes, mine does go out to her family......

A couple decades ago I got to know a fairly exceptional fiddle player up on the northern California coast.

When he wasn't playing, I noticed that he seemed to have a tendency to drawing in on himself and figured he was just a bit introverted.

Come to find out that about ten years earlier, he and his wife had gone out of an evening to watch storm waves pound the cliffs near their home, that and share a smoke of the local crop.

After a while, he noticed that she wasn't sitting on the rocks just a bit below him; one really big wave had just taken her off. Never to be seen again, anywhere.

Took him several years to mostly recover, though I don't think he'd completely come back when he passed away from cancer a few years ago.

The Lost Coast got its name for good reason.

Steve: Ok, now I've got something else (besides sharks) to keep me away from the beach.
