Barrett Brown, Snake Handler

I occasionally catch some of those cable shows featuring various macho types doing dangerous jobs: lumberjacks, ice truckers, those fellows who go after the Alaskan king crabs. But I tip my hat to Barrett Brown, who makes the others look like milquetoasts: Brown has recently announced a partnership of sorts with Little Johnson. I think this may answer the question, “who will be the last fanatic to drink the Kool-Aid in the Reverend Johnson’s Church of Me?”

Stacy McCain has a fine roundup of links on Johnson's continuing meltdown (and I offer a H/T to Captain Heinrichs, too).

So, yeah, you're basically admitting you watch Discovery Channel (probably HD) and History channel.

I do, indeed. Although my favorite cable channel is I.D. Discovery, which has all those forensic crime shows.

I share your viewing habits, Paco (at least some of them). Dirty Jobs and Deadliest Catch are among my favorites (and I've yet to figure out why... I mean, really, who watches somebody shoveling poo, besides me?)

History Channel is okay. Sometimes they have some really good documentaries, but sometimes they veer off into politically correct territory, which is frustrating. Also, the Hitler stuff is worn out. Where are the tell-all documentaries about Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot?

Oh, btw, Barrett Brown and Charles Johnson... who?

Rebecca: I just recently caught a couple of episodes of Dirty Jobs, and that's an interesting AND funny show.

There's another series on one of the channels (probably a Discovery affiliate) - can't remember the name; "How things are Made", perhaps? - which is fascinating. I saw an episode where they were making cowboy hats in Texas with machines, some of which are more than a hundred years old. Great stuff!

"How things are made" is on the Science Channel. NatGeo can be fun at times. I liked the woman on Ice Truckers last year, she has guts. The Military Channel is much better than the History Channel. Cash Cab is very good as well.

Yes, but they don't show enough tanks!
