Pray for Poor Haiti

Unimaginable devastation, in a country plagued by poverty, corruption and a turbulent history.

Lurita Doan at Big Government provides some historical perspective.

There is a link to the Red Cross's emergency aid to Haiti here.

Lurita Doan nails the recovery problem. Katrina is a classic example of how to NOT recover from a disaster.

And while she's right about kick starting the economy now, a large amount of the blame for New Orlean's economic woes fall upon the local government. They made a lot of their decisions without considering long term recovery.

Amazing how quickly Maximus Fortissimus can deploy military forces when he want to. I'm quite sure the field commanders in Afghanistan could have used eight thousand members of the "Deuce" and a couple of Marine Expeditionary Units. Why don't we just tell him that there are no more al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and they just suffered a big earthquake.

Seems like an administration that wants to make this the un-Katrina should be able to move food one mile in less than five days.
