Employee of conscience (suspended employee of conscience, that is)

A senior officer at Amnesty International has been fired because she objects to appearing on the same platform with Taliban stooge Moazzem Begg.

  1. Amnesty International has lost sight of its original purpose.

Christopher Hitchens is insightful, and a good writer. But, in many ways, he is hopelessly naive. Amnesty International lost sight of its original purpose long ago.

Which is why it's all the more important to bring back Sahgal. I dunno what a "gender unit" is (I'm avoiding obvious wise cracks), but maybe she should be in charge of AI. She clearly has principles from which she won't move, a rare thing amongst lefties.

  2. I just checked and Christopher Eric Hitchens (born April 13, 1949) is born too early to be the reincarnation of Eric Arthur Blair (25 June 1903 – 21 January 1950), 'better known by his pen name George Orwell'. Pity.

  3. You knew that

    Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (2 October 1869 – 30 January 1948)

    came back as

The Prince Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948),

    right?

    (Count the months between).
