The Devastating Mole

Spiegel Online has the fascinating story of Herman Simm, one of the last of the great Russian spies (and by "last", I mean "the last we know of", not by any means the last Russian spy standing).

Actually, I would be surprised to learn that some current Russian spies are known. Whne, following WW One, our intelligence service was dismantled and some fathead Congresscritter declared "Gentlemen do not read other gentlemen's mail," it took near-superhuman effort for British, French, and other services to refrain from laughing out loud - especially considering they maintain[ed] spies in the US.
