Sounds like a good idea to me

Southern California (minus Los Angeles) to become the 51st state?

Let's see...South California would control the water supply to Los Angeles. The San Joaquin Valley, home of most of California's agriculture, would be a part of South California (I'll bet that would make Victor Davis Hansen happy). The tree-huggers in northern California, the hippy-dippies in San Fran and the Hollywood glitterati would all remain in Old California. Two conservative senators would be added to congress.

I'm not seeing any downside to this......

And while we're at it:

Southern Illinois (minus Chicago) to become the 52nd state?

I don't see a downside to this. Not at all.

I have a couple of cousins in California that are probably cheering for this idea.

We're well on our way to Obama's 57 states, yes?

Zardoz, the rumor of water in the central valley is just that...rumor. The Democrats cut the water for the sake of a foreigner...the Delta Smelt. Remember, it's all about saving the environment. Save the fish, screw the farmers.

This is another wasted attempt. It'll never happen.
