Speechless

Stephen Green drunkblogs the President's jobs speech. Priceless, as always.

There are some good ideas in there, really. But it reminds me of Wall Street’s pony theory: “This thing is so full of horse s***, there must be a pony in there somewhere.”

Well, there is a pony. And it’s drowning in donkey crap.

That about sums the speech up!

I have several former students on my facebook, and the Black ones uniformly think the speech was excellent. They also think Obama looks tired and worn and attribute it to the Republicans.

Everyone else seems to think it was pretty much the most pointless speech he's made yet.

I can’t stand listening to Obama’s voice spewing platitudes, so I muted the sound, as I wanted to watch the responses of people. Platitudes I can get at work. Hell, I have no choice in that one.

Some observations:

I didn't see a lot of enthusiasm in the body language. Biden was especially attentive, but he sat right behind O!bambi, and couldn’t take a nap as he might want to. But not many people smiled. Maybe they have bets on the NFL kick off game?

Nor is everyone is standing for the ovations, let alone applauding. Are they missing the cues? A lot of people seem to have notes or hand outs of some sort. Were conflicting copies of the speech handed out? Maybe Biden is supposed to cue the standing ovations? He sure was quick to applaud. Or nod his head. Still, clearly not everyone is happy and supportive of President Present.

Jeez...Hillary looked UTTERLY bored and unenthusiastic. Didn’t crack a smile that I saw.

Boehner is NOT standing for the ovations. At least, not all of them. Well, he stood when Obama left the chamber. That’s protocol, anywho.

Lord, even Michelle Obama looked bored. Maybe she missed dinner, and was thinking about the burger and fries waiting for her? She certainly left the room fast enough.

All in all, I'd rate the group enthusiasm, on a scale of 1 to 10, somewhere between 1 and -3. The wide range is due to the Dhimmicrat sycophants in Congress; sometimes, you just can't tell who or what they're sycophanting for.

And then I read the transcription of his speech, which came down to:

"Pass this bill now. Blah blah blah. Pass this bill now. Blah blah blah. Pass this bill now. Blah blah blah. Pass this bill now. Blah blah blah......."

So, taken together, I'd say his speech was about the worse one to date. No new ideas. Lots of hectoring, nagging, and finger pointing. Nothing substantial from The Won™, especially where he COULD make a difference (e.g., slashing all of the regulatory changes since he took office, which ain't gonna happen).

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate it as a -99.

Jeff: You're a better man than I. I've gotten to the point where I can't even stand to look at him.

Thanks, Paco. I must admit that I wasn't looking at The Preshizzle all that much, just an occasional glance.

And every time I did look at him, I thought, "Eat me, Bozo!"

I didn't watch him, I never watch him. The only time I listen - and then I sorta tune it out if I can't get to the volume knob - is when Rush plays soundbites.

What I DID do was watch some of the tweets on my Twitter feed. THAT was fun!

Jeebus, I'm glad I didn't bother. I usually just catch the summaries on the internet the next day, and maybe a video clip or two. Is it my imagination, or is Obama's skin starting to look a little yellow? He does look like he's been through the wringer. I guess you get that way when you realized the world has stopped thinking of you as God.

I missed the speech but let me guess : Obama identified a problem and said the solution is to spend hundreds of billions of dollars?

I'm starting to think I might be psychic.
