I once saw a chess set in the window of a shop in the basement mall of the MGM Grande in Las Vegas. It was carved out of semi-precious stones, and sold for $10,000, and I thought who would pay that much for a chess set? But a half million?!? Holy cow!

Huh. I have a couple of chess sets bought in other nations, but nothing like those. Wow!
