ObamaCare

Not just a lie; a stupendously brazen, enormous lie, a lie that is positively criminal in its intent and in the extent of its deception. Andrew McCarthy at NRO:
So, while the president has been telling us that, under the vaunted grandfathering provision, all Americans who like their health-insurance plans will be able to keep them, “period,” his administration has been representing in federal court that most health plans would lose their “grandfather status” by the end of this year. Not just the “5 percent” of individual-market consumers, but close to all consumers — including well over 100 million American workers who get coverage through their jobs — have been expected by the president swiftly to “transition to the requirements under the [Obamacare] regulations.” That is, their health-insurance plans would be eliminated. They would be forced into Obamacare-compliant plans, with all the prohibitive price hikes and coercive mandates that “transition” portends.
This president and his administration (and the zombies who make up elected Democratic officialdom at the national level) have perpetuated more frauds against the American people than all other U.S. administrations, combined, in my lifetime – perhaps in our entire history. And we’ve got three more years of floundering liberal fascism? The only upside, I suppose, is the “floundering” part. It’s rather as if Mussolini had taken over and the trains not only began running slower than ever, but customers had to pay three times their previous fares, and the trains started jumping the tracks and plunging into gorges with tedious regularity. If there’s even the tiniest, residual particle of integrity left among Democratic senators and congressmen – and I’d not care to place a bet on those kind of odds – or, more realistically, if a few still have the will to self-preservation, then perhaps there may exist a remote, outside chance that they will initiate a process under which the siren song of an imperial presidency will be silenced, and truly bipartisan action can be taken to rescue America from Obama’s wet ideological dreams. Otherwise, it’s going to be a long, dreary three years.

And, no, I’m not holding my breath.

Update: The value of Obama's promises (lifted from Legal Insurrection)...

I sincerely believe that the plan all along was to create a train wreck that "only government" can fix, by taking over 16% of the US economy.

Don't forget, these people are socialists and socialists hate America and American values.

I think Robert is right. What has some Dims in a state of panic is that they thought the train would stay on the tracks till after the 2014 elections. Now, the train seems to be running ahead of schedule, and they're looking for a way off the seemingly doomed Obocare Express.

I just hope the Rinos in D.C. don't help them fix the tracks.

I don't think the idea is to have your fingerprints all over the train wreck, though. I believe Obama and the Democrats wanted to push us into a single-payer system, but, in their colossal ignorance, they thought the thing could be managed so smoothly that the end would be gained before the people knew what hit them. And for their hubris and stupidity, may the Lord make us truly grateful.

Well, the Dems thought that men would jump at the chance to pay triple in order that sluts will have free birth control and he won't even get sex out of it.

What's the incentive for young men to sign up for this again? Maybe the Obama administration should have a get out of child support free card since everybody's birth control/abortion is supposed to be free*.

*I wonder what line of the tax return those insurance subsidies are going to be on.

When Richard Nixon was forced to resign and give his farewell speech on TV, I actually felt sorry for the man. If we were to be so lucky as to force Obama to resign and fly off in Marine One in disgrace, I would throw a party.

The official Democratic Party is consumed with the sheer lust for power, by any means necessary. Sadly, the opposition party is consumed with the lust for likeability. The leading Republicans want only to keep getting invited to the Georgetown cocktail party circuit and to bask in collegiality.

That's why the Old Guard has such fear and hatred of Cruz and Rand.

I don't think the Republicans will win the next Federal election on Obamacare stuff ups. Why? Because, like last election, it will look like they're trying to take something away from the public.

Stuff ups such as are happening with the Obamacare website at the moment can be a live election issue - if they happen during election time. But it's not election time, and in the meantime the Dems have a powerful message they can take away and give to the public - this is happening because people want it. (Cue usual half-baked excuses and half-arsed apologies and halfwitted rhetoric about nothing being perfect... pollies are used to such rhetorical tricks and I'm sure they've already been put into effect).

In the meantime you can be sure they'll be scrambling for a quick fix. Bugger being high minded now, it's all about taking a shit sandwich and layering it with a tonne of syrup. So by election time they'll drag out.... something which they can present as 'workable'.

I expect the Repubs next election will do everything they can to avoid talking about the issue, in fact.
