An expert I did prise a few words from said that shooting at that distance beyond the weapons capability calls for luck, but it had still taken skill.

As someone who on occasion targets a small bullseye a couple hundred yards distant, my mind boggles at the thought of a couple thousand yards to target. Yes, large amounts of skill & luck involved.
