Assortment

I dunno, Michelle. Maybe you can’t really extrapolate from your domestic experience: “Michelle Obama: ‘Women are smarter than men’”.

Obama tries to pick up some useful tips from experienced dictators.

Jimmy Carter is making Stakhanovite efforts to maintain his place as America’s worst modern president (sorry, Jimmy, but you’ll probably fail at this, too).

Good advice from Jim Treacher: “If you live in Tampa Bay and somebody breaks into your house, shoot first and then call the cops.

As Mark Steyn points out, the lamps are, once again, going out all over the world.

I assume that’s a rhetorical question with an implied negative answer: “Will the U.S. help the Kurds fight ISIS?” The Obama administration is rapidly becoming a not so innocent bystander, compounding its ambivalence toward genuine terrorism by putting such energy as it possesses into Israel bashing. Your average Kurd is probably more pro-American than our own president (though that will undoubtedly change as we abandon them to their fate).

What could you do with $100,000? You could buy a perfectly good little house in my home town; or, if you’re the Clintons, you could rent a house in the Hamptons for three weeks.

Michelle: Women are smarter than men.

Translation: I'm smarter than Barry.

Which is probably true, but Laura Bush was probably sitting there asking herself: "Why do I have to talk to this bubblehead?"

"And so Australian publishers decline novels on certain, ah, sensitive subjects..."
Australian publishing has not been noticeably bold for the last couple of decades. Cookbooks and celebrity bios are the main staple.
The difference today is that print on demand is available. This does require the author to do some of the work the publishers would normally do. But if it's a choice between seeing your work in print and leaving the manuscript to gather dust on the shelf...
