Dude, where's my country?
Bob Belvedere laments the virtual extinction of the American spirit of fortitude and self-reliance.
I just think that women generally were never as keen on individualism as men are, so the more women have power over nations, the less self-reliant they must become. Women have power (no matter what some people say) both by voting and by controlling ever larger proportions of a nation's wealth: spending, consuming: mass media. Women got equal wages mid 1960s. Coincidentally that's when things took the new turn.
Multiculturism started with gender equality. I noticed this 20 years ago, haven't seen the connection disproved. J.S. Mill - who I am opposed to - was a strong feminist. Some rave about the 'Frankfurt' school, but the horse had already bolted long before that. Mill thought a genderless individualism was possible - he was wrong. There I've said it.
