This idiot

John B. Alexander - that's John B. Alexander, Ph.D, to you; plus, "Retired Senior Military Officer" and "Retired Los Alamos Laboratory" - opines that ISIS and the NRA are really very much alike. The similarities?
- Institutionally, both organizations are remorseless about the deaths of victims
- Both use fear and intimidation to obtain their objectives
- Both assume their ideology is superior to the wishes of the majority of citizens
- Both have intensely loyal followers
- Both recruit and indoctrinate members who are ignorant of the basic facts
- Both are relatively small organizations that have impact far beyond their size
- Neither organization will apologize for the harm they cause
You know what else that list of characteristics fits, for the most part?

- the Democratic Party
- Hillary Clinton
- many trade unions
- the Obama administration
- the gang-bangers who are running amok in many large cities, such as Chicago, that are governed by Democratic Party politicians

Elsewhere, the Brits are displaying their (apparently) ISIS-like tendencies by favoring the legalization of the private ownership of handguns (H/T: Captain Heinrichs).

Update: Don't miss R-man's excellent fisking of Dr Alexander's bunkum in the comments.

The NRA has murdered people in cold blood? I missed that on the evening news.

- Both use fear and intimidation to obtain their objectives

I guess a politician's fear of losing an election can be intimidating.

- Both assume their ideology is superior to the wishes of the majority of citizens

Yeah, the NRA's ideology of safe and fun firearm use is exactly the same as ISIS.

- Both have intensely loyal followers

So what?

- Both recruit and indoctrinate members who are ignorant of the basic facts

The NRA trains safe shooters by teaching basic facts, ISIS trains killers by warping minds.

- Both are relatively small organizations that have impact far beyond their size

The NRA has upwards of 5 million members (not recruits). Not exactly a local sport shooting club that holds raffles to raise money.

- Neither organization will apologize for the harm they cause

Killing massive numbers of innocent people is exactly the same as harming the reelection chances of a few politicians. ISIS harms out of malice, the NRA 'harms' to protect Americans' right to own firearms.

Good stuff R'man.

"members who are ignorant of the basic facts". ISIS? Is he another one of these Democrats who claim expertise on Islam like Joe Biden or Howard Dean?

Meanwhile most of the "Muslims" who attended Catholic churches in France lately were apparently Ahmadis. Actually very good nice people, who happen to believe that some Indian guru was another prophet of Islam. This does not go down well with Arabs and others as you can imagine. These are Biden's "Muslims" of peace and love: heretics. If only Ahmadis were the true Muslims, they seem to threaten no one (except accidentally by giving a false impression of the real believers, who hate them).

I remember this one time at the weekly NRA beheading ...

Weekly beheading, Rebecca? The local chapter here only has monthly beheadings. But, they've kinda thinned out the gunhaters in these parts, so I think they cut back to once a month beheadings, to make the fun last.

The local chapter has monthly beheadings, but they may have to cut back to beheadings once a month.
... I think got it ...

Doesn't the NRA offer classes such as "How to make IEDs for fun and profit", "How to make suicide bomb vests", "Apostate Identification & Disposal", etc.?

In south Texas, they have to watch the hog butcherin'. Then the meat goes to the smoker nearby. Boy howdy! You should see the look of fear on their faces! Then the beheadin'starts.

What does a hog butcher?
