Assortment

Fascinating piece by Rod Dreher on Sally Quinn, relict of the late Washington Post editor Benjamin Bradley. Quinn turns out to be a big fan of that ol' black magic (H/T: Ed Driscoll, who adds a few droll comments of his own). But never forget: Nixon was the scary one.

Evangelicals attacked for confirming that they believe what they've always believed (let's face it: the Left's not so very subtle goal is the abolition of Christianity).

Paul Ryan (or rather, his spokesperson) on condemning Antifa: If it's OK with Pelosi, it's OK with me.

Hillary Clinton? M-e-h, she's so yesterday.

Stacy McCain wonders what evangelism and lesbianism have to do with gun control.

CNN: from fake news to fake documentaries.

Let's hope not: "WILL THIS MAN BE NORWAY'S FIRST MUSLIM PRIME MINISTER?"

Say what you will of Governor Long, he knew his Democrats and Republicans:

Huey Long, first time I've seen him in video. Remarkable. Dennis Hopper used to point out that Easy Rider showed Long's bridges. That helped us foreigners get a sense of his achievements.

One thing we did have in Sydney since about hundred years ago was a big House of David colony. As in the baseball and miniature trains people, with the long hair. My Dad grew up near there and was mad about those mini trains as a boy, but repelled by the long haired men. 'Those Yanks' he would say. He admired you a lot and drummed into me, 'They saved us in the War!'

Bruce: I think some House of David fellows (or actors portraying them) appeared in an old Red Skelton movie (they were playing baseball, which is consistent with the sect's attachment to sports).

God bless your Dad.

Washington Post had some sort of editorial a week or so ago
praising Satan for individuality or some such BS? Or was that my fevered imagination?

Red Skelton. Thanks, yes I knew I'd seen some old comedy with long-haired baseball players and didn't get the joke. We used to watch the Red Skelton Show on Sunday nights too, before Carol Burnett took over.

Whistling in Brooklyn. I found the trailer for the film on YouTube, and there's a brief scene showing Red dressed in the uniform of the "Traveling Beavers", which I take to be a riff on the House of David (not sure what else it could be).
