If you ever take a .41 Magnum revolver to the range, you might want to (a) wear gloves or (b) leave the 230 gr cartridges at home and substitute 180 gr.
Just sayin'.

(c) be a real man
ReplyDeleteJust kiddin'.
That's the way I feel about my 30-30. I can shoot a hundred rounds of .308 with my AR10, no problem. 20 is about the limit on the 30-30. Weird huh?
ReplyDeleteIf you're using the stock grips, which have the finish of 50 grade sandpaper, buy a set of Pachmeyers. That's what I did.
ReplyDeleteR-man: No can do. I've got little Trump hands.
ReplyDeleteck: I have a G98/40 in 8mm. Leaves a bruise every time.
Jeff: Yeah, those original grips aren't helping (that minute diamond pattern is a killer; it's like a cheese grater). Thanks for the tip on the Pachmeyers.
Probably my most punishing gun is a Marlin 1895G in .45/70. I shoot Buffalo Bore magnum rounds, 430 grains at 1900 fps.
ReplyDeleteBut what was hurting was not my shoulder but my firing hand. The lever was beating it up. So I bought a big loop, problem solved. And it looks even cooler too.
Round loop: functional and cool.
ReplyDeleteFunctional and cool. Story of my life.
ReplyDeleteThat 8MM probably bruises the pocketbook as well, big bullets ain't cheap!!
ReplyDeleteck: Not cheap. Fortunately, the rifle, handed down to me by Old Paco, included 500 rounds of ammo.
ReplyDeleteBit like using hand-held artillery was it?
ReplyDeleteSteve: Exactly like that.
