Bud, you need to straighten up and fly right - or so say the Andrews Sisters.

"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
So used to hearing this in the jet era, but I just realised the Andrews version must have been popular with WW2 airmen busy with keeping formation, wow. (But apparently Nat Cole wrote it based on his father's sermons).
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't like the Andrews Sisters. They and this hit are enduring classics. Interesting tidbits. They were second to Bob Hope in the number of USO shows, They were outside Naples, Italy doing a show for troops headed to the Pacific when Patty was handed a piece of paper. After reading it, she started to cry, and said, 'Boys, the note reads here — the war with Japan is over.' "
ReplyDeleteParents used to tell this to their misbehaving kids. There Probably still are. Good advice for any generation.
