When you don't just want to be able to knock down a grisly, but want to vaporize him, as well.
.41 Magnum's about the most I can handle these days, and I have to wear shooting gloves for cartridges of 210 gr. or more.

I just want to shoot the guy next to me at the gas station.
What's best for that?
Maybe you should first try hiring the Peaceful Arbitration & Counseling Organization. Gun-play, even if justified, usually involves a lot of annoying paperwork.
I'm not fond of wrist breakers. .41 Magnum is also my limit, with gloves and/or Pachmeyer grips. I prefer .45 ACP or .45 Colt.
But to each his (or her) own, I suppose.
Yeah, grips can make a big difference, for sure.
