"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh

The Monkees played a big part in my failed attempt to become a pop/rock music idol. Some friends and I in the 8th grade thought if The Monkees could do it, so could we. After all, I could make people laugh.
Unfortunately, they were laughing at my complete lack of musical talent.
Hey, a laugh's a laugh, brother. Take it and run.
I actually went to school with the AC/DC guys, never met them but crossed paths daily. They made it look easy and we also thought, 'If they can do it so can we'. Only later I realised just how talented the Young family were and how hard they worked to make it, from deprived origins in Scotland to the family's little old house on a noisy street in inner Sydney where they worked on their music.
