Not altogether satisfying

James Comey is about to get slammed in an IG report, but, unfortunately, the DOJ reportedly has decided not to prosecute.

So, for now, Comey can breathe a sigh of relief and say, along with Jay Gould, the 19th century robber-baron, "Don't worry, boys, nothing's lost, save honor".

"For now", because he's not out of the woods, yet:
But Comey and others inside the FBI and the DOJ during his tenure still face legal jeopardy in ongoing probes by the IG and Barr-appointed special prosecutor John Durham. Those investigations are focused on the origins of the Russia investigation that included a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant targeting the Trump campaign at the end of the 2016 election, the source said.
I really hope they nail Andrew Weissmann, the Beria-wannabe.

It is best no to criminalize political differences. However, then you get into areas where you decline to prosecute actual criminal behavior for political reasons (Hillary's extremely illegal private server).

And if Barr believes he's setting a example, for the other side, well... after screaming about impeachment but never following through, the Dems will demand criminal charges against Trump the minute he leaves office. That's just where we are right now.

One major reason Julius Caesar chose to take his army across the Rubicon and make war on the Roman Republic was that the clique against him made no secret of their intent to prosecute him once he surrendered his proconsular Imperium. For whatever reason they assumed that Caesar would accept personal destruction at the hands of his political enemies rather than attack the Republic. Trump's not going to lead a military coup against the Dems. Does anybody seriously think they wouldn't if they thought they had the opportunity?
