"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh

On most mornings, while I was waiting for the school bus, one of the neighbors would cruise past in his new Studebaker Golden Hawk. At 10 years old I had my first case of automotive lust.
When I was in high school, my little sister's best friend's father had a beautiful Red and black Silver Hawk. You know, if the rumors are true and Paco Enterprises does have the old tooling for those hidden away, now would be the time to reintroduce it. A modern powerplant and suspension, and that car would be a killer!
Zardoz: Automotive lust is the best kind (I think it lasts longer).
Steve: For now, that's a closely-guarded secret!
Golden Hawk = tailfins and an ugly-ass upright grill on a sleek and stylish President Speedster.
I understand this may be an unpopular opinion, but the upright grill on the Studebaker Hawks annoys me in much the same way the "retro" egg-shaped grill on the otherwise attractive Jaguar S-type annoys me. It seems out of place on a low-slung sporty-looking car.
John Studebaker, founder of the company, began his career by making wheelbarrows for miners during the California Gold Rush. Look up "Wheelbarrow Johnny".
I used to have a color brochure from pre-WWI days of Studebaker wagons for sale. All kinds: hay wagons, buggies, the works. Probably buried in a box full of miscellaneous papers somewhere.
Felix Leiter drove a Studillac in Diamonds are Forever (the book,) a Studie with a Cadillac V8. 007 was ribbing him about his grandma car so Felix dropped it into second, punched it and beat a red light up ahead.
Bond said, "That's fine until a wheel falls off." They then argued the merits of American vs. English cars until they got to Saratoga, where Bond, in a hot mud spa, witnessed the torture of a jockey who failed in throwing a horse race...
