Be still, my beating heart

Behold, a 1941 Packard for sale.

That stalk switch below the left-hand side of the steering wheel looks like the self-cancelling control for turn signals. Such was fitted to the 1940 Buick that was my daily ride in 1954. Sadly, flashing light turn signals were then not considered legal, so we had to still wind down the window and extend our arm into the wind and weather. What made it worse was that a 'trafficator' -- the ridiculous little plastic arm that popped out of the centre door pillar on English cars -- was considered a legal turn signal.
At $6.5K that Packard would be hard to resist by our standards. The closest I can find here is a 1947 Packard Clipper Super Auto for $AU54,990.

Well, the current bid is $6,500. Seems very low for this vehicle. I wonder if there's a reserve?

Ya know, if I squint just right at the pictures of the car, I'd swear the license plate says "PACO 1". Must be a sign.

According to the BaT website, it could have a reserve, but they don't reveal that before the auction ends. They do have a system to avoid "snipping": It’s common in online auctions for buyers to use special software to enter a bid in the very last seconds of the auction to outbid others without giving them a chance to respond. During the last 2 minutes of BaT Auctions, the clock resets to 2 minutes after every bid. This happens until no more bids are placed and the auction ends. This gives everyone a chance to place their bids and gives sellers a chance to sell to the true high bidder.
Plus, there's a 5% buyers fee, and the buyer has to arrange shipping for the car.

I watch some of the Mecum auctions on YouTube, and it seems to me the prices are dropping on a lot of the older collector cars. A lot of the ones they put on the block don't meet the reserve and don't sell, which is what makes me think the demand is waning. But, I'm no expert, so take that with a grain of salt.

8350? Go for it! A 74 Duster goes for that much these days.
