One of Britain's leading intellectual lights has died:. Roger Scruton, age 75.
He was a prolific author, and even though my familiarity with him only extends to a couple of his books - Conservative Thinkers and Conservative Thoughts, both composed of essays from The Salisbury Review and published in 1988 - I could tell that I was unmistakably in the presence of a truly fine mind.

Scruton, quoted by Delingpole at Breitbart:
‘Conservatives are people who love something actual and want to retain it.’
