So annoying when you open the pack and most of the coils are broken.
Can't remember when I last used these but it was only a decade or 2 ago, in a bush shack or somewhere.

I remember those worthless things. My parents tried them a couple of times, but gave up because they didn't seem to work. I guess the mosquitoes around our place were too smart.

Or lacked a sense of smell.

I remember those things too.
I remember the coiled ashes the next morning with a bunch of dead mosquitoes who landed on it because they apparently liked the smell.

I made me leery of all repellents until I realized Off works and so does citronella. But I was in my 40s before I accepted that.
All because of that crappy coiled mosquito-attractor.

Over 50 or more years of swatting 'mossies' as we call them, I notice either they're getting smarter or I'm getting slower (both of course). Natural selection - by culling all the dumb 'squitoes we are creating a super-race who will eventually be unstoppable. Aaah!

I, too, have a vague memory of these things from my youth, including the recollection that the coils tended to break rather easily.

We have a few lemon balm plants around the house, and we sometimes wipe our hands and faces with the leaves; the oil includes citronella, I believe. But for real protection, Off! seems to be the best. I also remember when I was a kid my father had some kind of G.I. stuff from his days in the Army Reserve that was more effective than anything I've used before or since.
