The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to pass on nearly a dozen gun-rights-related cases is breathtaking, not in the denial of hearing any, but in the seeming admission that the conservative associate justices think Chief Justice John Roberts can’t be trusted to protect the Bill of Rights. Not at all surprising, considering that the Chef [sic] Justice sided with his liberal colleagues in cooking up some new law with the recent DACA decision.
"Hey, fellow progressives, you gonna like my legal gobbledygook gumbo, I gar-an-tee!"
George W. Bush: the gift that just keeps giving.
That's why I don't like so many lawyers.
ReplyDeleteHow can an executive order not be used against another executive order?
I've read it had to do with motivation.
WTF? That's lawyerese crap.
The Constition doesn't mention motivation and they're supposed to decide on constitionality.
They 'decide' what they want and then make up justification.
Eh, our fine betters are destroying the rule of law at breakneck speed so it probably won't matter much soon anyway.
You may be right. The war against law, order, the constitution, free speech, Western Civilization and plain common sense seems like it has turned into an attack with incendiary bombs, everywhere, coming from all directions. I do not see how we put this society together again, peacefully (or any other way, when it comes right down to it).
ReplyDeleteIf Trump gets another SCOTUS nominee (say, Amy Barrett for RBG), can he replace Roberts as Chief Justice while Roberts is still on the Court? His appointment is for life, but I don't think the position of Chief Justice is.
ReplyDeleteMake him Clarence Thomas' shoe-shine boy.
DeleteHate to say it but Kavanaugh was a Bush guy for a long time; and Kavanaugh's wife was Bush Jr.'s personal secretary.
ReplyDeleteSo, maybe Kavanaugh also has some unpleasant surprises in store.
I can't wait until this post is off the front page.
ReplyDeleteI want to wipe the smug off that face.
