Classical corner

Here is the first movement of Manuel de Falla's Nights in the Gardens of Spain ("En El Generalife"). The work was inspired by de Falla's interest in Spain's Arabic past, and the love that the old emirs had for their gardens, which were frequently living works of art.

Wonderful music. Re Spain's Arab past, my cousin traced our ancestry through a marriage to the Luttrell squires of Somerset back to King Edward I and his wife Eleanor of Castille, said to be descended from Muhamed via a local Caliph.

So I can show I'm descended from 'The Prophet'. How weird is that?

Well, why don't you set up as Caliph of Australia? Bound to be pots of money in it.

And if you need a vizier, let me know.
