Totalitarianism

Sometimes it gallops, sometimes it creeps: Berkeley becomes 1st city to ban junk food at grocery store checkouts.

How does a city government - or any other government - presume to have the right to do things like this? Keep it up, citizens of Berkeley, keep putting these meddlesome, officious little Kommissars on your city council. One of these days, you're going to vote yourselves straight into a concentration camp.

It's good to see the city of Berkeley focusing on the important things instead of wasting time on those drug sales going on at every street corner.

Well, look at Bloomberg's NYC. If he can ban Big Gulps and salt shakers, then what can a municipality NOT ban? Or mandate?

LA has come within an RCH of banning outdoor barbecues in the past, and you know damn well they'll keep at it until they finally make it stick. Il Duce Newsome just, by a stroke of the pen, banned gasoline powered vehicles in CA after 2035.

Too bad he can't make the trains run on time... hell, he can't even make them run at all.

Personally, if they really want to get their power rush by banning things, I wish they would ban those junk magazines at the grocery store checkout lanes. You know the ones I'm talking about.

They're an insult to my intelligence.
