Gad!

I had no idea who Sandra Bernhard was, but was interested in why she disliked soon-to-be Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett, so I clicked on the Breitbart article - "Actress Sandra Bernhard: Amy Coney Barrett Is Controlled By Her Religious Dogma, Has Total Contempt of Other Women". I immediately beheld a photo of this person and recoiled. Good God, I thought, can't these news wallahs give a reader some kind of warning? The unfortunate Ms. Bernhard looks like an iguana peering from underneath a clump of Spanish moss. And she holds idiotic opinions, too? Poor thing.

Or, as we say in the south, bless her heart.

UPDATE:  The warnings of Ms. Bernhard notwithstanding, the Senate has just voted to confirm Amy Coney Barrett. The count was 51-48, with one senator (Democrat Kamela Harris, interestingly) not voting. All Republicans, save for the completely worthless Susan Collins, voted to approve.

Congratulations, Your Honor! May you have a long and distinguished career on the Supreme Court; perhaps one day - perhaps not too long from now -you can be Chief Justice!

UPDATE II:  And the icing on the cake? She's going to be sworn in by Justice Clarence Thomas, who was the subject of so much abuse during his confirmation hearings, which were run by - Joe Biden.

So much Karma!

  1. Her one shining moment was in Hudson Hawk, 30+ years ago.
Back when Bruce Willis, and she, had hair.

  2. Sandra was never what you'd call pretty. But to say that the years have not been kind is like saying that Hitler was averse to yarmulkes.

  3. When she was younger, Sandra was what is now called a "butterface": Ooh! Hot bod, butterface...

  4. I had to look this creature up on IMDB, and I must beg to differ with you, Veeshir. She peaked when she voiced Cassandra in the Disney animation of "Hercules". Which surely qualifies Miz Bernhard (in the eyes of the media) to lecture jurists on religious dogma.

"Hudson Hawk", meh, one of Bruce's less sterling performances.

  5. Jim Treacher had the best take on Barrett's confirmation: to paraphrase, a woman was appointed to the Supreme Court by a black Supreme Court justice, and the only people unhappy about it are Democrats.

Also, Sarah Bernhardt is the Whoopi Goldberg of white women.

  6. Bernhard is the "comedian" who, during her "comedy routine" expressed a hope that Sarah Palin would be gang raped by a bunch of black men. Because a) that's really funny, ha ha, and b) gang rape's not bad enough, it's way worse if it's interracial.

That's because people like you and me are intolerant racists. And people like Bernhart are loving, tolerant, and inclusive.

  7. I hadn't heard that bit of invective about Palin (or if I have, I'd forgotten it). Amazing how this numbskull doesn't see the implicit racism in her own comment.
