Thank you, veterans, for your commitment, courage and sacrifices!
"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
I purchased a... um, an "item" today and when the clerk was ringing it up he said "And you're getting a military discount." I said "How do you know?" He said "We were talking." So I must have said something in militarese. Maybe used 24 hour time or dropped a TLA.
ReplyDeleteTurns out he was Army. And, come to think of it, I figured he was a vet also. So it must be some military version of gaydar.
Mildar? Btw, from these two Army vets to you...thanks for your service!
DeleteI'm sure you guys can spot each other, no problem. I frequently get asked, but more in the tone of "You're not a veteran, are you?" And, no, I never had the honor of serving.
ReplyDeleteHell I'm a "veteran." I've got a dd214. I wasn't any good at it.
ReplyDeleteSo I don't try to flash it anywhere.
We're Army vets. We have relatives who served in the Army, Navy, and Army Air Corp/Air Force. I followed in my Mom's footsteps by serving in the Womens Army Corp. Then WAC was integrated into the Army.
ReplyDeleteThank you to all who served!
Funny story: I went into a thrift store many decades ago. I told the young cashier that I was a vet (to get the discount), to which she responded, "You're not old enough."
