Well, you never hear of rats boarding a sinking ship, do you?

"Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt is resigning from the group's board amid a series of scandals that has rocked the high-dollar anti-Trump super PAC".

Too late, Steve. Abe Lincoln is back, and he's trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored, smiting the political punks who cloaked themselves in his name...

Update  Well, well, well. What a surprise! Bain Capital - Mitt Romney, call your office! - was a donor to the Lincoln Project. Here's an interesting list from the National Pulse.

  1. He's stepping down to make way for a black female to join. Because, uh... why can't he remain and work alongside a new black female member? Sounds to me as if he's refusing to work with this putative black female.

Oh, and also he was once molested when young. Plus he's converting to Judaism.

Okay then. I am surprised that he left out "Deciding to live out his life as a gay man" and "Now I'm dedicating myself to taking on the NRA." Guess he wants to hold something in reserve in case those excuses don't get his kiddy diddling butt off the hook.

  2. This is some of the craziest stuff I've ever heard, a heterogeneous mess of self-pity, racial pandering, issue-punting, (likely) mendacity and bizarre religiosity. Very revealing how so many of these sleazy kooks were aligned with John McCain and other GOPe types. Can't wait to see Rick Wilson blow up.

  3. 'To be or not to be..' Why did he join in the first place then, huh?

  4. I expect Wilson's eventual meltdown to rival Queeg on the stand with his ball bearings.

  5. The Lincoln Project was never anything but a giant grift, designed to suck up money from the gullible so that its members could enrich themselves and their firms. Naturally they're all scattering now that the heat's on. Plus, they all knew about Weaver all long, no matter how much they try to deny it. That kind of thing doesn't stay hidden for long in circles like theirs.
