Your embrace of leftist cultural and political notions could leave you feeling mighty exposed in the not too distant future: "GOP Insiders Warn Companies Woke Leftism Paving Way for Corporate-Free Populist Republican Party".
In the memo, which has no named author, CGCN warns the “business community” that their previous allies in the Republican Party are moving on from protecting business interests to instead focusing on populist priorities of protecting American workers. As the GOP shifts downward away from the elites and towards the everyman, the memo notes, the Democrats in Washington continue their efforts to punish companies with tax hikes and regulatory burdens. In other words, companies may be left with nobody to defend them or their interests—all because they decided to abandon neutrality in favor of woke leftism, fighting culture wars that have driven Republicans away from them back toward the refreshed GOP base while Democrats will never reward them for being woke enough.Personally, I would be delighted to see the GOP become the party of American workers and American small businesses. These are practically the last bastions of common sense and traditional American values in the country, and any chance we have of defeating the destructive forces of wokeism is going to have to be rooted in the commitment and participation of these groups.
Gad! What was I thinking?
Update Increasingly, the knowledge that I voted twice for this hollow man, this intellectual midget, this arrogant asshat makes me feel unclean: "George W. Bush: 'Sick to My Stomach Seeing -Capitol Stormed by Hostile Forces' but 'Populist Movements Begin to Fritter Over Time'".
The unions aren't too happy either; LIUNA endorsed Biden and got rewarded with the XL pipeline getting cancelled; UAW endorsed Biden and Ford is moving more production out of the US.
ReplyDeleteThe Democrats, as usual, are overplaying their hand.
ReplyDeleteand it looks like families making more than $400k (which I guess means individuals making $200k) will be seeing a tax hike. A lot of them rich liberals just voted themselves a tax hike too.
ReplyDeleteRich liberals and Lefties never worry about tax hikes because they have very good accountants and financial managers.
DeleteHere’s a great opinion piece along similar lines ....
ReplyDeletePersonally, I would be delighted to see the GOP become the party of American workers and American small businesses.
ReplyDeleteMe too, as long as the GOP purges itself of RINOs and establishment careerists. When we start seeing that, I'll start trusting them again.
RebeccaH, I suspect strongly that when it becomes apparent that the GOP is home to the despised working class, the GOPe elites will depart in disgust anyway.
ReplyDeleteRebecca: this looks like a good start.
ReplyDeleteJeffS: I get a 404 when I click that link.
ReplyDeleteIncreasingly, the knowledge that I voted twice for this hollow man, this intellectual midget, this arrogant asshat makes me feel unclean:
ReplyDeleteIt's even worse for me, I voted for McCain in the 2000 primary before voting for Bush in 2000 and 2004.
Talk about feeling like an idiot.
I voted for Sarah Palin in 2008 and nobody for POTUS in 2012, I did vote local AZ stuff that year.
By then, I just couldn't pull the lever for that guy even if it meant Obama's second term.
Sorry, Paco, I failed to check my work. Here's the correct link:

And there's something goofy about the date/time stamp for my post -- I
V: A least you gave Romney a hard pass in 2012, which is something I didn't do.
ReplyDeleteDeb: That's true. It would be interesting to see data revealing how many leftists are fine with higher taxes because paying them is a "duty" (and/or they can wriggle out of them), and how many wind up saying "what the hell, where'd my money go?"
