...but hopeful. Conrad Black:
They drove Trump from office and then they turned on themselves and they are ruining the country. But as Adam Smith famously said, “There is a lot of ruin in a country,” especially a great country like the United States. Trump was often outrageous but was a good president.
In four years this self-destructive Americaphobic nightmare will be over and a regime led or at least supported by Donald Trump will be back. In a phrase of General de Gaulle’s in the dark days of France, “We are crossing the desert.”
I am hopeful because I tend to believe the worst fears of a Socialist/Woke dictatorship are exaggerated. Not because the Left won't try to destroy our democratic form of government - they are doing their best at this very moment - but because the Left in this country, although dogged in its pursuit of ideological hegemony, is unfathomably stupid. And evil. I cannot, at present, believe that the likes of Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and their allies in the media (and in the Republican establishment) can ultimately impose their will on tens of millions of unwilling citizens, most of whom have a very deep love for personal freedom, a strong faith in a loving and just God, and firearms that aren't just for hunting deer and turkeys.
On the other hand, there was that whole Ark business in the Bible, and, if nothing else, the 20th century taught us that there's not always a great difference between men and sheep, so I continue to retain a measure of skepticism.
I hope that the majority of normies, the people who shrug and say "I'm not much interested in politics" are at least watching with unease and discomfort. I hope that there comes a point they say "Oh hell no!" and step up.
ReplyDeleteWhether the DNC/Media complex really believes they have a mandate or not, they keep claiming they do, I think as a psy-op against the normal people. That psy-op is getting harder to maintain with every overstep and blunder and totalitarian idea floated. What we need is a preference cascade.
What we need is a preference cascade.
ReplyDeleteExactly so. I just hope there are enough normals left who haven't been totally numbed by the disaster of Biden's "election" and the pace of radical change.
Pretty soon the choices will be stark.
ReplyDeleteOur fine betters' governmental strategery is dependent on $trillions of new debt a year.
That'a unsustainable.
We're well beyond $30 trillion in debt and will probably pass $40 trillion by 2024 at the latest.
I don't know what will happen, but it's not gonna be pretty.
Sadly, men went out of style. If it's a contest between sheep and men, we're gonna need to find more men. Even the military is weeding them out. The Marines need to update their slogan: "We're looking for a few good men because our senior officers are all sheep."
ReplyDeleteI'm on the optimistic side too. But there's going to be a lot of pain and bullshit to battle through before we see things getting better.
