The competition for "Worst Mayor in America" is particularly keen this year, my friends

Inclusion, it's not for everyone!

It just struck me, we're all outsiders to the urban/globalist elite here. It's like the cafe at the edge of the universe.

I've mentioned I went to school with Geraldine Brooks who won a Pulitzer for a very calculated novel, what a joke. She wrote for WSJ in the 1980s and was reliable, but after marrying into NY elite set, modified her 'politics' to fit in. Most of my school friends have done that and I always hated it - I chose a different path even in the 1970s. 50 years on, what have they achieved? Status. And you can sense how much they fear falling off the ladder. I'm glad I went a different path. At one friend's funeral recently they read a message from Geraldine. I knew him since 1964 and watched him climb the social ladder. What a waste! Useful idiots all. Note - it's probably easier for an Aussie or a Pommie (John Olver) to get into the New England elites than it is for you guys born in the US. That should tell you something's up, and it's been brewing for a long time I think. Crazy world.

Bruce: I haven't read Brooks' novel, but I did peruse a summary and it looks - extremely contrived.

You're right about the chances of most Americans for ever entering the "elite". As it's currently constituted, I can't say I'd particularly want to be a member - but it is galling to see these intellectual mediocrities and neurotic poseurs trying to lord it over honest folk.

Mayor Cryptkeeper doesn't want to be asked hard questions about Chicago's ongoing murder rate. Black and brown reporters know very well which side of the bread the butter is on.

The Rochester NY Mayor's husband was just arrested on several felony drug charges.

I'm sure she was entirely unaware of his, er... "transgressions." No doubt it's all a misunderstanding to be cleared up shortly. She has been Mayor since 2014.

To be fair, have you ever been to Rochester? Kodak left and that was the reason for Rochester.
I've most often heard Rochester pronounced, "Roshesher" and that's by residents.
