I didn't know there was a scary yarn connected with this place

Before we finally settled on buying a house in Southport, NC, I seriously considered buying a home on a 40-acre parcel of farm land on Booger Hollar Road, in my native Stanly County (it's located about half way between Big Lick and Frog Pond, if that helps you any). My main reason, besides the beautiful countryside, was that I thought it would be the coolest address ever. It would also have made a nice home for some of the unwanted statuary in the country (two or three General Lees, General A.P. Hill, Teddy Roosevelt, Christopher Columbus, etc.)

Alas, it wasn't to be, but now I doubly regret not buying the place because there's a ghost story associated with a bridge on the road. Here's one version (there are others).
