That last one sounds right. When #2 son was about 7 years old, he was bugging me for something, don't remember what exactly. In any event, when I denied him, he said, "I'm going to a higher power", then he yelled, "Mom!"

i had a friend who's dad whould say "ask your mother" and mother would always ask "what did your father say" if the child said "he said to ask you" you might get a "yes", if the child persisted with asking dad the answer was "no," and mother never overruled dad.
