The elite in government and the bureaucracy, some of whom have even been granted pay rises since these lockdowns began, are laughing all the way to the bank while the nation’s middle-class, small-business entrepreneurs – the cultural descendants of the emancipated landowners of the 19th century – are driven to despair and bankruptcy. These elitists might evoke the Australian traditions of ‘mateship’ and the ‘fair go’, but they advocate nothing of the kind. Instead, they impose rules that are only possible under their newly created ’emergency powers’, and which would have been comprehensively ridiculed and rejected in any state or federal parliament at any other time in our history.

State leaders are called Premiers. Here in NSW we have Premier Gladys Berejiklian and her megalomaniac police commissioner Mick Fuller. In Queensland to our north, they have Premier Annastacia Palaszczuck ('palace chook'). She took over from her father who says he's a Holocaust survivor - maybe so but he's also 'on the make' and has accepted chairmanship of a Chinese DNA-data collection company said to be the world's biggest:

That's the most sinister thing I think I've ever heard. Who owns your DNA when China holds it all in a big 'blockchain' data bank?
I worked as lab tech in a DNA lab 30 years ago when they did the human genome project. The intentions were to use it to cure cancer etc, so totally altrustic (there is no 'evil plan') but still, is it safe for human beings to control this stuff? Even 30 yrs ago some Americans were trying to patent chromosomes they 'discovered'. What if everyone's DNA is stored in a big Chinese computer?
A hundred years from now, when they announce the first case of the "even more contagious Omega Variant", the robot armies of the Supreme Leader will be going door to door forcibly jabbing people who refuse to help flatten the curve, and are thus considered enemies of the Earth World Government (EWG).

NSW got a steamroller police chief, because it used to be extremely corrupt, and he cleaned it up. But he can't stop, and while 2 women are the nominal leaders - the Premier and the health official Kerry Chant - the police chief is the real force behind the 'emergency'.
ReplyDeleteAt least the NSW cops aren't charging bribes like they used to! I guess. (It was $1800 for a mild charge to be dropped in the 1970s. Or was that better than now? At least we knew what to expect!).
If there's one advantage we have over the US it's that our feds are very weak, and even weaker now with state leaders assuming absolute power.
Maybe there's an element of white-knighting in the NSW police chief's over-reach, trying to impress the women leaders, riding to their rescue, big macho cop!
